You can build this hose box using just a miter saw and a drill. I designed this to be assembled with screws driven from the insides so none of them will show. It uses off-the-rack 1x3 and 1x2 boards readily available at any home center. Obviously, try to select the straightest boards you can. The widths on these may vary slightly, but this is designed in such a way that it won't matter. No ripping boards on a table saw necessary!

So I uploaded this video to Chat GPT and asked it to interpret the meaning behind the Red X: The video seems to depict a journey through various stages of discovery and transformation. It starts with mystery, transitions into clarity, reaches a peak of chaotic creativity, and finally settles into a calm resolution. It’s a metaphor for any creative or personal journey where one starts in the dar...

Yes!
The link to the tool list no longer works! :(
So, no cops could stop the driver in that entire hour of a helicopter following them? What a waste of tax payers funds. I guess that's just how you do it in California. 🙄
Using salt for years. Works great.
Hey Steve, most Kreg jigs sold in Australia at least are in metric 😁
I would. If it had $3698 inside
Thank you Senpai
Great presentation! Thank you.
Good day. Do you take requests? I would like to diy a rug tufting frame and all the videos I've seen so far seem wasteful so I'm here seeking guidance. I'm thinking 7' × 5' (or 6') standing using 2×4.

The wood looks Birds Eye ish
Anyone else notice the Ouija board near a back corner of the shop?
It's really encouraging to see Steve using cheap tools.
I love this! I wish Steve would go through and edit out the free plans part of all his old "free plans" videos though...
Indoor pocket hole screws?
Excelente..te felicito..simple y muy bueno...lo voy a hacer 👍
A plastic cover insted of wood might work. But break probably. I also found paintings work, whether it is the canvas or the stiff material covered with canvas. Anyway the lightest gear possible if you are busking, is desirable. Great upload thx!
Hi! Thank you for very useful video and great tips - immediate subscription! I tried to do something similar, but something went a bit off, so I’m kindly asking you for an advice: I have a wooden IKEA table. Its top made of several wooden blocks, so it’s not a single sheet of wood. I dyed it using water-based dye, and covered it with the first coat of polyurethane lacquer. The thing is that after applying the first coat I can see that the surface gone patchy - some wooden blocks are glossy and smooth, and some - dull and a bit rough to the touch, where the wood absorbed the lacquer. I was going to use fine sandpaper to even the surface after the first coat of lacquer. But now I’m a bit confused as I don’t know if I could damage the dye layer on the dull patches and expose the wood, as it is obviously very thin. What would you suggest to do in this case? I was going to do at least three coats of lacquer with sanding in between.
I don't see the plans .... I'm sure I am overlooking... can anyone help me out?! Thank you :)
I'm looking to cut a very hard wood with my table saw and it's thick, I think 2 1/2 inches. I was told I should use multiple blade heights for this type of cut. Do you know the maximum thickness for any single pass I should attempt to cut when doing a rip cut with a hard wood on a table saw?
im 16 and i had 2 years of doing woodworking, its very great im planning to get a table saw and a nail gun, Thank you for the video
In black wood for $3700 lot of money for me in South Africa
I recently bought the Kreg Pocket hole mini jig. I'm making so many random boxes and picture frames, my family will be receiving those for Christmas for years
I’ve been catching up on your videos Steve and I definitely got a story about Home Depot. I was in a building trades class in high school and the teacher sent me and my buddy there to get some plywood. The guy poorly strapped it up on top of my buddy’s suv. Now us being younger and dumber didn’t really know better and thought it would be fine. Let me tell you that it almost went flying off the car at the first stop sign and we called another friend with a pickup to come give us a hand. Definitely an experience I haven’t forgotten nor will ever 😂
Dude… thank you so much. My boss left me alone to finish a job last week and I had never used a tablesaw before. I now know that I am not a complete sissy and the reason I was so scared is because none of the safety precautions or tools you mentioned were there for me to use
SUPER IMPRESSED WITH THE WOOD CUT OUT FORMING TO THE ROCKS. NICE JOB!!
I don't see the link for the plans. Is my vision that bad?
Just imagine the amount of people that have been inspired by all of these RUclips legends in woodworking. Just like some of these guys and girls could’ve been inspired by shows like This old House. It’s just really cool that RUclips really allowed a lot more people to share what they know.
Whenever I’m introducing someone to a tool I tell them find what makes you comfortable. Just don’t ever get cocky with any power tool cause it will humble you eventually. You should always have a slight bit of fear to just keep you in line but not enough to hurt you.
That’s what marine grade plywood is for.
I betcha, this man is a satanist. He definitely has a darkside.
I use my feet alot. With sneeks on they're just sly of 12" =woman's size 10, men's size 8 shoe. So when I don't need a pin needle measurement I walk the line on a weekly basis with things mostly woth decorative things for my home- rugs, furniture, parking spaces. (haha coppers! I practice!)
Your free guide is giving a 404 error when clicking the link on that page. I thought because I was looking at an old video that it was just an old link. So, I came to this video which is only days old and got the same result. (Thank you for the content, too!)
Great video. First time using circular saw. Made me confident. Thanks.
Surprised turmeric was more expensive than wine. I like this because if I only have a small project, buying a can of stain feels like such a waste. But if I am staining with food products, I can just consume the unused stuff.
Would you still use those table top brackets if the top is made out of plywood or mdf?
I couldn't agree more, the goal of achieving simplicity is the among the first things you learn about in Industrial design. In illustration as well.
Unfortunately, I just got to view this video 3 years since it was uploaded and undoubtedly it is the best ever on End Grain Cutting & Designing. The addition of the calculator depicting the patterns along with the downloadable software is most thoughtful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It's now time to bukld some boards.
Thanks Steve
I woodwork for me not for acceptance of the internet community or my neighbors..
thanks Steve! just made a pair!
I'm seeing this video 12 years later... and it still rivals other videos for ease and functionality! I'm working out a Franken-bench in my head that incorporates the table saw, miter saw, and router and this modular design may be exactly what I need. 👍
Russ Morash, producer of This Old House and The New Yankee Workshop, The French Chef and other shows died this past Thursday, the 20th.
Love the video, but safety considerations bruh. I cringe every time you reach your hand out over the blade. 😢
If your biscuits are loose like you showed there is either something wrong with the cutter or your jointer. I need to tap the biscuits into my jointer cuts and some are even what I would call too tight, you can't pull them out without pliers. I have made many face frames and cabinet door frames in my life including mine and many of my friends and there has never been a problem with any of them. I'm a 77-year-old retired German-trained journeyman Cabinet maker. If you plan on hitting your face frames and cabinet door frames with a hammer use mortise and tenon, if you use your cabinets like most of us do you will be safe using a biscuit jointer. That said the best and most effective inexpensive method is still using dowels. But biscuit joiners do have their place.
Hi Mr. Ramsey! When a see that video, I remember a lot of older projects. Great idea created that! Keep working, good job for WWMM! 🎉🎉🎉
Have you ever made a folding hotel-style suitcase rack? I’d love to see you do one. Ralph
I made this in one day with many interruptions, and forgot to rabate the top. So i got a lil bit of extra height. So much for following directions. The halflaps came out good. Very nice method. Thanks Steve.
U sped up the screwing too much and COMPLETELY skipped the painting process! 😓😭😆 thanks for sharing the lil hose "house" 👍
@Steve Ramsey when it comes to screw vs. Bolt here's the technical explanation. 1. It has nothing to do with the diameter of the fastener. 2. It has nothing to do with the head type. 3. A screw as you noted is used where one piece has a through hole and the other side has machine threads or in woodworking threads created as the fastener is screwed into place. 4. A bolt as you noted is where both pieces being fastened together have through holes. The fastener will apply a clamping force with a bolt (regardless of diameter or head type) and a nut.
